Starting with top-grade core seats, we carefully dismantle them, ensuring every component is handled with precision. To guarantee long-lasting durability, all metal parts, including springs, undergo a comprehensive rust protection treatment by trusted specialists.
Enhancing the comfort factor, we install new padding, thoughtfully chosen to provide the ideal balance of support and coziness. Our commitment to excellence extends to the materials we use. Only the finest-quality upholstery fabrics and materials grace our seats, ensuring a luxurious experience.
We take great pride in our upholstery department. We start with quality core seats and completely dismantle them. Then, all the metal parts, including the springs, are sent out for long-lasting rust protection. New coconut fiber padding (as used by the VW factory when your car was new) is installed and the seats are re-covered using as close to original grain and quality as we can buy. After careful inspection, the seats are then carefully wrapped and boxed for shipment.
What’s included:
- Sandblasted and reconditioned seat frames (our seat frames have new retaining prongs).
- Refinished recliner mechanisms.
- Sandblasted and powder coated seat springs (factory springs were only protected with cosmoline).
- Fabric barrier between seat springs and coconut fiber pads.
- New coconut fiber pads as used by the VW factory when your car was new.
- Cushioning material between the coconut fiber padding and the new upholstery covers.
- Upholstery cover installed with wire sown in just like the factory.

Attention Core Returns Info:
Before returning your seat frames for a core refund, it is important for you to understand that the pieces you are returning are of value to us. In order for us to use pieces from your return seats they must be in usable condition after refinishing. If your seats have more than light surface rust, are bent, broken or damaged we will not be able to give you a credit.
We have tried our best to convey to our customers what we are looking for in seat cores. We do not use damaged parts to return to the customer on our rebuilt seats. Therefore, it is very important that you understand what a usable core is.
Please note: It is the customer’s responsibility to pay any shipping cost associated with shipping a CORE back to THE THING SHOP.
